Artificial Intelligence: The New Influencer?

Generative AI seems to be everywhere, including the content we consume online. You may see AI-generated Reddit stories, videos with scripts that weren't created by humans, and even videos that don't quite look natural. Generative AI in media has been creating a disconnect between content creators and consumers as it becomes more difficult to tell what is human or not. This inability to differentiate between human and AI generated content has also created a distrust for content that is known to be generated by AI. The purpose of this research is to investigate how generative AI has impacted the ways people in the United States create and distribute media. To do this, I designed an experiment that ran in five rounds. In each round three videos were posted to TikTok on a new account. One video was solely created by AI in every aspect. One video was created by me but was AI enhanced in things like the hook and script. The final video was created by me alone. Music was added later on Tiktok right before posting.
